Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. - GPRS - of Arizona was contacted by a local contractor to locate all rebar and conduit in several concrete slabs in a downtown high rise project in Phoenix, AZ.
The local contractor had the unexpected task to relocating sewer drain lines due to floor plan changes. Consequently, to avoid costly repairs and maintain jobsite safety, it was absolutely critical to locate all structural steel and power conduit before any core drilling would take place. Moreover, with the urgent nature of this change, due to tight construction timeframes, it was imperative that this issue would be resolved as quickly as possible.
Ground Penetrating Radar Systems was immediately contacted to provide digital concrete imaging (ground penetrating radar) as well as radio detection / signal induction technologies to assist in locating all conduit within the slab. GPRS was able to survey and mark on site, in real time the locations of all rebar and conduit within the concrete slab. GPRS was able to respond and arrive on site within 24 hours to conduct the concrete survey and provide immediate results. This allowed the contractor to save the critical time needed and avoid delays while confidently and safely core drilling into the concrete floor.
