Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. - GPRS - of Arizona was contacted by the city of Tempe, Arizona to locate rebar within the vertical concrete dam walls of a water drainage area for the city water treatment plant.
The city's project required that reinforcing beams be installed between the two vertical dam walls to prevent the walls from collapsing inward. This new installation required penetrating the existing vertical concrete walls to install the new reinforcements without hitting any rebar. It was imperative that all rebar was to be located in the walls, so as to not compromise the dam's structural integrity by accidentally severing any rebar while installing new reinforcing structures.
Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. is very familiar with working closely with local city and state government projects. Ground Penetrating Radar Systems arrived on site and used ground penetrating radar to locate all rebar within the vertical concrete dam walls. With all findings documented and marked onsite, this information allowed the city's general contractor to safely and in a timely manner, know exactly where to core drill into the concrete while eliminating any chance of damage and costly repairs. All rear was clearly marked and successful installation of reinforcements was 100% successful.
Ground penetrating Radar mapping is a great tool to scan areas of post tension cables, rebar, and conduits, including PVC pipes. Ground penetrating radar can also be used to locate underground utilities such as water, gas, electrical, communication, sewer, and other objects prior to digging or excavating. Please contact Ground Penetrating Radar Systems - GPRS to learn how we can assist with your next project.
GPRS has done many projects such as this in Phoenix, Tucson, Yuma, Flagstaff, Prescott, Kingman, and throughout the entire state of Arizona and performs GPR surveys throughout the United States.
