Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. - GPRS - of Arizona was contacted by a large general contractor to locate all underground utilities in a major hospital renovation project in Globe, Arizona. The potential existence of electrical lines, sewer lines, fiber optic lines, and water line utilities were present.
This project was a particular challenge to the contractor as other portions of the hospital were in operation, including an emergency room and other critical care facilities. For that reason, any damage to any utility could put portions of the hospital that were open at risk for losing power, water, or communications as well as the inherent risk to any worker present on site.
Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. arrived on site and used both ground penetrating radar and radio detection / signal induction technologies to locate the utilities on site, marking them all in real time with paint and producing immediate results. GPRS' quick response and clear markings communicated each utility's location and prevented any damage to the underground utilities – preventing risk as well as any detrimental impact on critical hospital operations. This enabled the general contractor to continue to safely excavate with confidence, while eliminating costly repairs and safety issues.
Ground penetrating Radar mapping is a great tool to scan areas of post tension cables, rebar, and conduits, including PVC pipes. Ground penetrating radar can also be used to locate underground utilities such as water, gas, electrical, communication, sewer, and other objects prior to digging or excavating. Please contact Ground Penetrating Radar Systems - GPRS to learn how we can assist with your next project.
GPRS has done many projects such as this in Phoenix, Tucson, Yuma, Flagstaff, Prescott, Kingman, and throughout the entire state of Arizona and performs GPR surveys throughout the United States.
