Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. - GPRS - of Arizona was contacted by a local contractor to locate all rebar and conduit CMU cinderblock walls at Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix, AZ.
The local contractor had difficulty determining where they could safely core drill into various wall locations for mechanical room access through CMU cinderblock walls a tenant improvement project. The contractor's client, Sky Harbor International Airport communicated that it was not only imperative to find all possible rebar or conduit but to also to produce a written report that documents a thorough report of all findings after the survey was completed.
Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. arrived on site and used both ground penetrating radar to locate all rebar and conduit in the CMU cinderblock walls, but was also able to produce a written report satisfying all of the client's reporting requirements, documenting all findings on site for their records. Ground Penetrating Radar Systems also used radio detection / signal induction technologies to assist in locating all conduit within the slab. This enabled the general contractor to safely know where to core drill into the concrete while eliminating costly repairs by avoiding breakages of any concrete rebar or conduit lines.
Ground penetrating Radar mapping is a great tool to scan areas of post tension cables, rebar, and conduits, including PVC pipes. Ground penetrating radar can also be used to locate underground utilities such as water, gas, electrical, communication, sewer, and other objects prior to digging or excavating. Please contact Ground Penetrating Radar Systems - GPRS to learn how we can assist with your next project.
