Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. - GPRS - of Arizona was able to map out the structural reinforcements which included rebar and post tension cables as well as conduit in the concrete slab for a contractor that specializes in the installation and maintenance of large scale back up batteries, at a data center in Phoenix Arizona. The client needed the structural both post tension cable, rebar, and conduits marked out over a 50-foot linear path for the placement of 38 anchors bolts. Using the GSSI 1600MHz ground penetrating radar (GPR) and Radio detection model 7000 (RD7000) the reinforcement and conduits were located and marked for the client in a timely maner. The information provided to the client allowed for the safe and effective placement of the anchors.
Ground penetrating radar is a great tool to scan areas of post tension cables, rebar, and conduits, including PVC pipes. Ground penetrating Radar can also be used for locating underground utilities such as water, gas, electrical, communication, sewer, and other objects prior to digging or excavating.
